Five months ago I decided to loss 20 pounds, from 209 to 180 pounds in that time frame was better then expected. I investgated what would be the best way to be healthy and loss the weight at the same time. Most of my weight, like most men ,was just in my stomach.
Intermitting fasting became my weight loss of choice. I would stop eating at 7 pm (not always possible) and not eat again until the afternoon, about 17 to 18 hours fasting. I was cutting out sugar and processed food almost entirely. My meat servings slowly worked down to 4 or 5 ounces per serving—salads with olive oil only. I was using bread as a treat every now and then. Eggs were a fast food of choice. I cut out snacks all together.
Failure happens along the way; I accepted this and refocused on my goal, realizing as in life, to lose is easy, success is getting back up and finishing what you started. Some friends asked me why I chose this type of dieting; my answer was in the prison camps in world war two, never once saw fat people being released.
What have I gained? My mind has become sharper; my vision has improved. My mood is softer, overall health and sleep are excellent. I think cutting out sugar, almost wholly, helped health-wise as much as losing weight. My doctor was astonished by my blood work, letting me know it was much better than his; he was in his late thirties, me at 72.
We all are different; I have no idea if this will work with anyone else, not selling anything; I changed how and what I eat and made this my new normal, not weight loss action as much as a health action. God Bless
