QUESTIONING MY ABILITY TO LEAD
My thoughts running for the US Senate race 2018 are how much intellectual men hate wise men with common sense. I have mostly been self-taught both in knowledge and life. Some would say it is apparent that I am flawed; look at my decision to join the army and, especially, infantry parachuting unit during wartime. I was asked once after the speech, was I ,an officer in the Army. I replied no; this person says how you can claim your military experiences of not planning operational missions much less everday operations? It took me just a minute or so to collect my thoughts not because of knowledge but angry. We must remember there are over hundred people staring at you wondering how you are going to handle.
My answer: I realize you are part of why I am running against the establishment. I was barely 17 joining the army, and I was scarcely 18 landing in Vietnam, I just turned 19 leaving, planning A mission ,my GOD, how wrong someone can be, at 18 I led men into battle from the front ,the part, you can’t erase and plan again, the men are either alive or dead ,by my or actions or inactions, it is a place that no 18 year old should have to endure, it has horrors that last a lifetime. My friend, I tried once to figure out how many firefights I had, my best quess 15 or so. It seems that sometimes deep in thought, I will remember another. I would ask how many men, much less 18 years old, can call in an airstrike, and artillery strike can coordinate other units at the same time and fire his weapon to fight incoming NVA. The American soldier, my friend, is the finest example of a fighting soldier. I would ask how many of these planners would last through 15 firefights. NO ANSWER!
(I asked did he see a few days in this time frame for me to become and officer)
