I had a 96 percent blockage in the front of my heart in January 2020. The pain and nausea were unbearable, and I was close to death. I dropped to my knees, knowing instantly I was in big trouble. My strength was gone; I couldn’t see out of one eye. I held my phone, trying to call 911 but couldn’t. If you can imagine sticking an ice pick into your heart between your chest bones repeatedly, I would imagine that would equal the pain. With my almost last breath, I got into my car, leaving my office by the silver slipper sign, headed to the Hancock hospital, about 3 or 4 miles. The pain let up just a little as I passed the lower bay road. I had visions of maybe driving to get my wife in Diamondhead, but that left when the pain increased in intensity. I went around a car at the circle K light with one eye on the road, I had no air left in my lungs. I drove to the front door of the waiting room, over the curb, and I had nothing left; once I went into the waiting room, I whispered a scream; I was having a heart attack as I hit the floor. The amount of pain on a scale from 1 to 10 was 11. After they hooked me up to the heart machines and IVs in my arms, many nitro pills under my tongue, the pain loosened up for a few seconds. Suddenly, it returned with a vengeance, lights blinking, machine screaming, and everyone looking worried, the doctor shouting orders as they add medicene into IVs, you could see the concern on his face.
I saw no light, and I had no thoughts of family and friends; the pain was so great that it was my only feeling. The doctor, on my leaving in the ambulance from Hancock to Slidell memorial, told the driver not to go to the emergency room on arrival, “go straight to the heart lab.” My pain let up a little on the way, and then I kissed each family member bye, in my mind,in case it was over. (Hancock Hospital , the Doctor and nurses dropping everything, to tend to me, saved my life. My wasting no time meant my heart survied with lttle damage. )
NOTE;My visit to the heart Doctors office for a normal stess test a month before my heart attack could have saved me. I don’t know all the words and types of test but had my Doctor given me Nuclear test he would have seen the blockages (had two) i could have been saved from the pain and almost death. GOD BLESS
