I woke up this morning to warm house. Just turned the faucet on to fresh drinking water; my sewage system requires no work. I am reminded to take the trash out to the can by my wife for pick up on Monday. Hot water to bathe or shower, washer and dryer for clean clothes. A house well insulated from the ever-changing elements from outside. As I drove the streets of Diamondhead, no beggars, no homeless people “tented”everywhere. I passed two law enforcement officers patrolling the streets for safety. Yes, the clean streets,” a beautiful Mayor and city council that runs the city that I voted against, I was wrong.” We need to be very thankfull!
Guatemalan city, security guards at every mom-and-pop store, and the police are as bad as the crooks. The almost complete infrastructure breakdowns, trash is the norm, not the exception, and hot water sometimes, depending on where you are. Transportation is old American school buses they call “chicken buses,” and that is for a reason, most Americans should be chicken to ride in them. I wasn’t the first time but I would walk before riding again, scary to say the least, “NO RULES OF THE ROAD.”
Another thought ,they have socialized medicine that has no medicine, the only true medicine and healthcare is with money. The socialized medicine is completely broken down and broke. Hundreds of people waiting for services for days, a proven failure.
Diamondhead, no drunks to walk over each morning, no teenage gangs hanging around corners. It is good to wake up to security each morning and realize how truly lucky we are.
