I keep thinking, what is the difference between us, the sons of the founding fathers and the founding fathers themselves? I come up with courage. With the country going in a direction that no sane person 40 years ago could have ever even dreamt. The nation is split down the middle with socialist, communist type ruling even when not in office and capitalists that are not only weak but fat and lazy, never ruling but swearing if they get the power, they will rule and right the ship. At least the socialist-communist bunch has their minions burning, looting, and killing. The saddest republican stance was overzealous citizens on January 6th that are being made scapegoats for all to see the federal government is all-powerful, no different than the British before the revolutionary war.
What if courage was the answer and men stood up and said, “give me liberty or death” my only regret is that “I have one life to give my country.” Nothing is free. It all comes at a cost. Freedom means nothing when the country is so far in debt that the mountain is too high. This is like a family living on credit cards, knowing the end is coming but having no answers except spending on more new credit cards.
I have given up on leaders; many lie, our Governor lied to get conservative votes and, after winning, joined his bluer-than-blue buddies to remove the flag without a voice of the people. I believe the fear of the people scares the hell out of these love money more than the southern heritage bunch. What did they win with the removal of the flag of 1894? “Zero,” except maybe money that we have no idea about.
My greatest injustice was removing the soldier’s statue at Ole Miss to the back and covering it up with a rag. Governor John Pettus of Mississippi called in 1861 for all these young Ole Miss students to join to protect the great state of Mississippi from the invasion of the North; they did willingly and gave their lies. I can see the future Washington DC needing rocks for a parking lot and grinding up the Vietnam memorial.
The south isn’t dead. It is fat and lazy, but the blood of our southern heritage runs deep. Maybe this generation that has plenty and has never missed a meal, will be replaced with men that realize what they have lost and will once again screams “give me Liberty or give me death”. It runs in their blood.
