Attending the luncheon at the Hollywood casino for Congressman Mike Ezell was an excellent event with many of the top Hancock county officials and politicians. Mike is likable; one would believe he will not make waves and work with Congress to get things done.
My time spent with Mike was on the campaign trail, with my brother Carl attending each event. All the candidates running against then-Congressman Palazzo were polite, friendly people trying to get their messages out to get elected. I was struck by how cordial six men could be to each other in a race for one seat. The turnouts in these events were small and mostly a waste of time. Most of the people that showed up were voters for their candidate, not seekers of a candidate per say.
Mike’s speech was about the vote for the speaker of the house and how it was never-ending. After, Mike asked for questions, I asked him what he was doing about the defict spending and was he going to be the spear to lead congress away from more debt? I asked was any Mississippi Congressmen or Senators going to step up and lead the nation to economic sensibility.
Congressman Mike Ezell answer was that the speaker of the house had gone to the White House to discuss the new budget. We are working on ways to lower the deficit spending.
In peacetime, soldiers are safe at home, and the quality of the man has little meaning; in war and battles, the quality of the man is worth three legions, says Julius Caesar. We, as a nation, are divided and are at war against the norms of the country. We have elected men, that, in peace, are good, but in the fight for our very existence, we need knowledgeable leaders that are courageous to lead not only with words, actions, and the strength of the sword.
Remember the fight regain lost freedoms to a enemy are atrocious. rwb
