They tell me they read my stories daily and are beginning to see through the “lies” they were taught in school. While that is encouraging, my greatest personal victory involves my two grandsons. After helping raise them, I watched them transform in their thirties from “woke” mindsets into strong conservatives.I realized that in my own past disgust and hatred of war, I had inadvertently left out the importance of the American Founding Fathers—the original rebels and “traitors” to the King of England. They were the same breed of rebels as my grandfather, who joined the Confederate Army in Brookhaven, Mississippi, during what many here call the “War of Northern Aggression.” Despite the bloodshed, those generations built the greatest, wealthiest nation man has ever envisioned.The Battle Against Modern IdeologiesI intend to spend the rest of my life fighting the “woke” agenda. From my perspective, the left is obsessed with linguistic gymnastics—changing “fat” to “obese” or “retarded” to “mentally challenged”—while harboring a deep-seated disdain for the South and our war heroes. They are tearing down statues of everyone from Columbus to Washington, seemingly replacing American patriotism with the teachings of Karl Marx, Lenin, Castro, and Mao.For over 50 years, I believe our school systems have taught an uninterrupted hatred of America. The left has merged the identities of legal citizens and illegal immigrants into a single voting bloc, trading “woke pennies” for political power. Their goal seems clear: to eradicate the patriot, dissolve our borders, and ensure a one-party rule by destroying the love of country.A Warning from the Front LinesTo those on the left seeking conflict: Be careful what you wish for. War is not a game, and there is no “glory” for the dead—only for the living. Below is a glimpse of the reality I faced in one of my 32 battles:”I recall being 18 years old after a horrific firefight. My mouth was so dry that water couldn’t quench my thirst. My hands were burned raw from switching out a glowing machine gun barrel in the heat of the fight. I sat there, unable to move or comprehend the carnage on the jungle floor. The smell of the dead was already rising in the heat, and the wounded were screaming in pain. In that moment, my mind escaped to a world far, far away.”
